This is another image from the Niagara Peninsula’s fruit belt in the area near Vineland, Ontario. Among the large orchard tracts just off the beaten path (in this case, along Claus Road), lies one of the orchards belonging to Cherry Avenue Farms, this one featuring the pink blossoms which generally denotes peach trees (although nectarines look very similar, but not the case for this orchard). The green grass with the occasional dandelion as well as the compression and limited depth-of-field provided by the telephoto lense used makes the blossoms stand out. If you plan on shooting the Niagara blossoms, act very quickly as they only have a very few days left before it is all over until next year. - JW

Taken using a tripod-mounted Nikon D7100 fitted with a AF-P DX Nikkor 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3 set to 300mm, ISO100, Auto WB, Aperture priority mode, f/8.0, 1/200 sec with and EV+0.33 exposure bias. PP in free Open Source RAWTherapee from Nikon RAW/NEF source file: set final image size to be 9000x6000, set exposure compensation to EV+0.78 brighter than as-shot, increase contrast and Chromaticity in L-A-B mode, increase colour temperature (make warmer) slightly above the as-shot value, slightly increase Vibrance, slightly increase the black point, enable the Graduated Neutral Density/GND tool and rotate it as well as shift it down to cover the grassy area at the bottom of the frame and then slightly darken the grass, sharpen, save. PP in free Open Source GIMP (v2.8 not 2.10 – tried it, liked it, but issues so not for now): adjust the tone curve to slightly darken the bottom (approx) 10% of the curve and brighten the top end of the curve at about ¾ of the way across from the left, slightly increase saturation just enough to clean up colours, duplicate the image to a new top layer and add a white/opaque layer mask to the new top layer, in the layer below adjust the brightness of the yellow dandelions by using the Hue-saturation, brightness tool set to the yellow channel and then adjusting the value of the yellow channel’s brightness as well as saturation to get better-looking dandelions, then in the top layer use a small soft-edged paintbrush and black paint to paint in the dandelion heads revealing the adjusted ones from the layer below, create new working layer from visible results, sharpen, save, scale image to 6000x4000, sharpen slightly, save, add fine black and white frame, add bar and text on left, save, scale image to 1800 wide for posting online, sharpen, save.
