Elk on Gearhart Dunes - a photo on Flickriver

We spent some time playing and photographing on the beach at Sunset beach and decided to drive down the beach to Gearhart. Just as we got to the drive on off point at the Highlands we saw this beautiful herd of elk grazing in the dunes. I parked the car and we set off into the dunes to make a few images of this awesome scene. I was able to get within 50 yards or so of the herd. The seemed aware, but undisturbed by my presence.
