Sunpak DX 8R - a photo on Flickriver

            Following some questions, a guide to the Sunpak DX 8R Ringflash

Not shown (as I don't have one) is the optional AC power source for the command  module. 

The control module allows full power down to 1/16th through the usual four stops. With a GN of 8m this is usually quite enough. At 1/16th and f8 its got a range of less than 30cm. 

There are a range of dedication modules available for Canon, Nikon, Blads etc etc (its a bit like the old Tamron idea for lenses), these are still available at places such as B&H & Adorama for $30 (USA) and even Jessops of all places in the UK (£20). Mine came with the STD-1D which isn't dedicated to any camera, this means I have to shoot fully manual on the Canon EOS, but then whichever module it came with this would be the case as non of the modules support e-ttl II. I've tested the flash trigger voltage on mine at 4.7v so it is alledgedly safe on most cameras. Well no smoke has appeared out of the 400D yet...

I specifically mention the dedication module release tab as it took me without the manual a short time to find that one out, as it looks like its the catch for the battery door to lock too.

A Greasemonkey script that adds Flickriver links to various Flickr photo pages - user photos, favorites, pools etc, allowing to quickly open the corresponding Flickriver view.

Also, allows quickly viewing any Flickr photo on black background in large size.
