Bank Swallow Habitat - a photo on Flickriver

            The floods of 2013 were powerful and devastating. But in addition to damage to roads bridges and homes, the floods did what floods always do--adjust the channels of creeks and rivers and cut new banks. On the up side, the new banks, such as the white bank in the foreground, provided new nesting habitat for bank swallows. Each of the holes in the white bank is a band swallow nest. Photo taken at the St. Vrain Creek in Longmont, Colorado.
