Treaty Oak - a photo on Flickriver

Treaty Oak

This big ass tree is located in Jacksonville Florida and is thought to be about 250 years old. It's huge!!
Approx.70' high and it shades a circular area about 190' in diameter. The trunk alone is 25' in circumference.

It was not a great time of day to shoot this...a very harsh but gloriously warm sunny day:-)). Yes, I've finally got warm weather!!!! I'm just NE of Tampa and after 3 days in a campsite where I couldn't get a satellite signal, I'm finally in a camp where I can plant myself for a few weeks....and watch some tv. It was getting tiring moving every 2-3 days. I have met Fred www.flickr.com/photos/darbyandme/ and he and Deb kindly took me out to dinner at a nudist club!!!! Enough said! I really didn't see anything....damn. It was a very nice place actually and a bit cool in the evening to be naked:-)). I can't say much more about Fred as I have a legal case pending against him and his dog:-))). Kidding Fred!!!
I spent the day and evening yesterday visiting with friends who are also down here (actually my brother and her sister are married) and had a great time. They are just down the road and had invited all kinds of Canucks for a BBQ (and one American couple we accepted as okay). It was so weird to be BBQing and eating corn on the cob in January!! Hard to even imagine freezing. I had a hard time sleeping last night because it was almost too warm:-)). I know......I'm not bitching.
