The Klein Matterhorn (sometimes translated as Little Matterhorn) is a peak of the Pennine Alps, overlooking Zermatt in the Swiss canton of Valais. At 3,883 metres (12,740 ft) above sea level, it is the highest place in Europe that can be reached by aerial tramway, as well as by any other means of transport. The Klein Matterhorn is part of the Breithorn massif and overlooks on its south side the almost equally high flat glacier named Breithorn Plateau, just north of the international border with Italy. The name "Klein Matterhorn" is a reference to its much larger neighbour, the Matterhorn, which lies 7 km away across the Theodul Pass.

The Klein Matterhorn, with the adjacent ski-lifts to the slightly higher Gobba di Rollin, is also a year-round ski area, marketed as "Matterhorn Glacier Paradise", and part of the international ski area between Zermatt and Breuil-Cervinia.

Es markiert das westliche Ende der vom Monte Rosa gegen den Theodulpass streichenden Bergkette und ist durch den Theodulpass vom (Gross) Matterhorn getrennt.

Der Berg ist Ausgangspunkt vieler Bergtouren, zum Beispiel aufs Breithorn, Castor, Pollux oder Startpunkt zum ganzjährigen Skifahren auf dem Theodulgletscher. Im Januar/Februar sind Temperaturen um -35 °C keine Seltenheit. Im Sommer wird es kaum wärmer als rund +5 °C.

Le Petit Cervin (Klein Matterhorn en allemand) est un sommet des Alpes valaisannes culminant à 3 883 m, à ne pas confondre avec le Cervin lui-même, qui se trouve d'ailleurs à proximité.

La première ascension reconnue est attribuée au savant genevois Horace-Bénédict de Saussure en 1792. Selon ses dires, l'ascension non dépourvue de dangers, en valait largement la peine et offrait un panorama des plus spectaculaires.

En 1979, avec l'inauguration du téléphérique d'accès, le Petit Cervin prit de l'importance, tant pour les alpinistes que pour les touristes et les skieurs alpins venant de la station de Zermatt. Cette installation a ouvert le plus grand domaine de ski alpin d'été de Suisse, devançant le deuxième en importance, celui du glacier de Fee.

Depuis le 23 décembre 1979, le Petit Cervin est le plus haut point accessible d’Europe par téléphérique1. La station d’arrivée du téléphérique du Petit Cervin se trouve sur sa face nord et culmine à 3 820 m d'altitude. Depuis là, un tunnel d’environ 160 mètres de long le traverse et ressort sur sa face sud sur le glacier du plateau du Breithorn. Au milieu du tunnel, un ascenseur puis un escalier extérieur mènent au sommet du Petit Cervin à 3 883 m d'altitude. À son sommet, une plate-forme offre une vue panoramique à 360° sur les sommets environnants de Suisse, d’Italie et de France. Le restaurant qui se trouve à la sortie du tunnel sur la face sud du Petit Cervin est le plus haut restaurant d’Europe, et culmine à 3 820 m d'altitude.Il Piccolo Cervino, in tedesco Klein Matterhorn, è una montagna di 3.883 m delle Alpi Pennine.
