Rangers Awarded Valorous Medals - a photo on Flickriver

            
2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment Rangers were awarded 20 Valorous Combat Awards, including 2 Silver Stars (1 Silver Star Posthumously), for their heroism and courage while in Afghanistan in a ceremony at St. Martin’s University Pavilion, Mar. 20, 2013. Spc. Ricardo Cerros’ parents, Ricardo Cerros, Sr. and Marguerite Quiroz, were presented the Silver Star from I Corps Commander Lt. Gen. Robert Brown on behalf of their son’s bravery in which he sacrificed his life, shielding his Ranger comrades from a grenade. Sgt. Peter Cimpoes was awarded the Silver Star for his courage, protecting his fellow wounded Rangers from 30 minutes of enemy direct fire, enabling them to be safely evacuated. 2/75 Rangers were also awarded 6 Bronze Stars with “V” device, 4 Army Commendation Medals with “V” device and 8 Purple Hearts.
