Prinses Máxima opent Den Haag Sculptuur 2011

Her Royal Highness Princess Máxima of the Netherlands opening the outdoor exhibition The Hague Sculpture 2011.

The Hague Sculpture
During the summer The Hague Sculpture changes the picturesque historical city centre of The Hague into an open air museum, with free entrance for everyone and full leisure to visit whenever one feels like it. Great artistic quality, monumentality and a thematic selection are characteristic for The Hague Sculpture. The sculptures made by renowned sculptors and new talents attract a big and varied audience of interested art lovers and professionals.

The Hague under the Heavens
In 2011 the exhibition is presented under the title The Hague under the Heavens. Contemporary Chinese Art in The Hague, referring to the Chinese Tian Xia (All under Heaven), one of the cornerstones of the Chinese Confucian worldview. The outdoor exhibition shows work by contemporary Chinese artists and can be visited from June 6 till September 11.

Prinses Máxima opende gisteren op het Lange Voorhout in Den Haag de openluchttentoonstelling Den Haag Sculptuur 2011.

Den Haag Sculptuur
Elke zomer verandert het Lange Voorhout in Den Haag in een openluchtmuseum dat iedereen in eigen tempo en op ieder gewenst moment, dag en nacht, gratis kan bezoeken. Op één van de mooiste lanen van Europa kun je langs bijzondere beelden van gerenommeerde beeldhouwers en jonge, talentvolle kunstenaars slenteren.

Den Haag onder de hemel
Dit jaar staat Den Haag Sculptuur in het teken van China: Den Haag onder de hemel - Hedendaagse Chinese kunst in Den Haag. Deze titel verwijst naar het Chinese Tian Xia ofwel Alles onder de hemel, één van de uit het confucianisme stammende basispeilers van het Chinese wereldbeeld, dat uitgaat van het vertrouwen in een wereld met harmonie tussen de hemel, de aarde en de mensen.

Samenwerking met Beelden aan Zee
Voor het eerst wordt de tentoonstelling gevormd door de samenwerking tussen Den Haag Sculptuur en Museum Beelden aan Zee in Scheveningen. Behalve op het Lange Voorhout en Museum Beelden aan Zee, zal er ook werk van hedendaagse Chinese kunstenaars te zien zijn in het Atrium, de Kloosterkerk en Pulchri Studio. The Hague Festivals
Den Haag Sculptuur is onderdeel van The Hague Festivals 2011. The Hague Festivals brengt in juni Den Haag een maand lang het hoofd op hol. Tijdens deze Haagse festivalperiode staan Den Haag en de badplaatsen Scheveningen en Kijkduin in het teken van vele festivals en evenementen. Grote namen zijn Den Haag Sculptuur (6 juni t/m 1 september), Vlaggetjesdag Scheveningen (11 juni), Festival Classique (14-19 juni), The Hague Jazz Festival (17-19 juni), Shoppingnight (23 juni), Nederlandse Veteranendag (25 juni) en Parkpop (26 juni).
