Peasant woman nursing a baby - a photo on Flickriver

            Difficult to find something rural in the big city. I saw this statue of a peasant woman in the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. It was created by Aimé-Jules Dalou in 1873. I was touched by the warmth it expresses, so different  from the 'classical' marble statues around it.
Dalou spent seven years in London, and during this time produced many intimate domestic scenes. He experimented with different types of material, this statue made out of terracotta. The colour is SOOC.
