Celandine - a photo on Flickriver

Celandine

            Well I think it is, Lesser Celandine, it's been appearing in the uncut grass over the last week or so. I've looked it up on Wiki and apparently it's thought by many to be a harbinger of spring -  flowering March through to May. The poet William Wordsworth was very fond of the flower and it inspired him to write three poems including the following from his ode to the celandine:

"I have seen thee, high and low,
Thirty years or more, and yet
T'was a face I did not know."
