Walk Softly and Carry a Big Lens! - a photo on Flickriver

My apologies to Teddy Roosevelt, but I couldn't help modifying his famous quote for my own use. 

This is currently the biggest lens in my arsenal -- a Tamron SP 300mm f2.8 LD IF. I used to have a bigger lens -- a Pentax SMC Takumar 500mm f4.5, but sold it for some reason I don't now remember (Doh!)

Seriously, though, I like this one a lot more than my 500mm.  The Tak Daddy HAD to be used on a tripod, no ifs, ands or buts. I can handhold this lens pretty well, thanks mostly to Pentax Shake Reduction.

Oh yeah...since I was using the K20D/FA 77 mix for the shot, I had to break out my K100D to use with the 300mm for the shot. I forgot what a nice little camera the K100D is. Alas, it doesn't balance well with the 300mm, though. Oh well, still a fun camera!

Oh yes, since it was HBW again, I couldn't help myself from using the 77mm again! Better bokeh? It just doesn't exist!
