Autumn at Mt Shuksan HDR 5149 - a photo on Flickriver

              Anybody that knows me, knows that this is one of the shots I attempt every year! Very early in my photo stream, is the photo I took last year at the same place with my old "Point and Click." Now I could use my Canon Rebel XSI to shoot in RAW for an HDR photo. Well, here it is! Most photographers like the lake to be completely smooth like a mirror, but there was too much of a breeze which kept Picture Lake choppy. Well it finally smoothed near sunset, and I may post that photo later. I like late afternoon angle as the sun really highlights the reds of the Huckleberry plants. We have a weather system coming through right now which may coat the mountain with a light dusting of the season's first snow, so I might have to go back this weekend!
   If you all remember the post of Iceberg Lake and Mt Baker from several days ago, you will remember that I had to hike over seven miles from Artists Point to arrive down the mountain here at Picture Lake. This was the scene that greeted me at the end of the Chain Lake trail. I snapped a few photos, then recomposed myself to hike back up to Artists Point on the 2.5 mile long Wild Goose trail with an elevation gain of about 1,200'. All of this hiking torture was exhilarating and totally worth every foot of the trails I hiked.
  This is a three exposure -2,0,+2 shot on my tripod and processed through Photomatix. I then transferred to Photoshop to remove a "pesky" traffic sign, a little sharpening and then compressed the file.
