Mezquita de Yusef Abu el Haggag, Luxor, Egipto

            Ubicada dentro de los muros del Primer Patio de Ramsés II en el Templo de Luxor, y construida en el S. XIII sobre las ruinas de las basílicas cristianas anteriores, la mezquita de Abu el-Haggag representa una tradición de culto continuo.

Si bien han existido varios intentos por trasladar la mezquita o destruirla, ninguno ha prosperado debido a la negativa de las autoridades egipcias.

Por esta razón el primer patio de Ramsés II no ha sido completamente excavado.

Yusef Abu el Haggag fue un importante jeque que vivió entre los siglos XII y XIII, y que se encuentra enterrado en la propia mezquita.
