Canon 5D MarkII Test Canon 5D MarkII Test
Canon 5D MarkII Test

Can I just say upfront that I love this camera? Ok. Bought it today and didn't have time to go out and do some shoots. Couldn't wait till next time so kind of fooled around at home and tried to practice with focusing etc. It needs a little getting used to and I just wanted something up. So let me give you some details. Lens: Canon 24-70 mm f/2.8 L (superb!) Post: Final Cut Pro 5 - One thing I didn't take into consideration, RAM! So I converted all the files with MPEG Streamclip www.squared5.com and used the HD 720p setting as output. MPEG combined all the footage into one movie which was easier to handle. I simply imported that into FCP. Before that, went to Easy Setup and selected HD 720p 30. I didn't have time to mess with any other settings. I deleted audio on all but the guitar track. I wanted a separate track with guitar so I could later hear the audio quality 5D records in (quality of the playing tho...meh). Of course I realized I didn't record enough music so I had to do some cut/paste and looping from the original take. After that, export as QT. Then I took that file and used MPEG Streamclip to compress the file, leaving export settings at Video: 720X480 (Unscaled). Audio: AAC, 48KHz, and 128 kb/s I'm sure there are better ways to handle video from Mark II. I'll be learning in the coming weeks. I'm not happy about running on a 1GB RAM on my Mac, but can't have it all. This video scratches the surface of what the Mark II is capable of. Working on it. Would love to explore what others are doing in terms of processing and editing with 1GB RAM. If you are out there. :)
