Krider's Juvenile Red-tail Hawk - a photo on Flickriver

            Watched this Krider's Juvenile Red-tail Hawk perched atop the roof of the Interpretive Centre at Fort Whyte for at least 45 minutes as chipmunks, squirrels and warblers, passed by through the air or on the ground below it.   Later on it finally flew off to a larger tree to view and try his luck on some mallards sitting idle on the lake.

"Red-tailed Hawks have extremely variable plumage, and some of this variation is regional. A Great Plains race called "Krider's" hawk is pale, with a whitish head and washed-out pink in the tail.
