In Search of a Morsel 5884 - a photo on Flickriver

            An obliging Greater Yellowlegs didn’t seem to mind me sharing the water just off the road on Great Bay Blvd.  I sat with my boots in the muddy water and enjoyed watching her darting about in search of a morsel, here and there. Every now and then she would look up to make certain I remained in my place.  There breeding birds of the Arctic tundra are passing through on their way south for the coming winter, along with other sandpipers and plovers.  Many of the birds that spent summer in the Arctic have already moved on.  The saltmarshes and mudflats are a peaceful place this time of year, free of most of the harassing insects that can make summer visits less bearable.  #GreaterYellowlegs #1200mm
