Days Old Mute Swan Cygnets (Cygnus olor)

Three weeks ago, I photographed the female Mute Swan sitting on 10 eggs. To see that shot, click Mute Swan Sitting on 10 Eggs Hatching began three days ago but, unfortunately, only two babies survived. While taking these shots today, I saw one egg, which still may hatch, and a dead cygnet next to it. We have had extremely strong rainstorms the past week and the nest I photographed three weeks ago was basically destroyed. I suspect that many of the swan eggs may have been lost to the storms.
