Pigeon Point Lighthouse - a photo on Flickriver

            The location and the lighthouse are named after a ship, the "Carrier Pigeon," which crashed on nearby rocks in 1853. The lighthouse was completed in 1872 and is now part of a California state park. Its tower, at 115 feet, is one of the two tallest on the West Coast, along with the Point Arena Lighthouse.
