The Church of the Redeemer (from the German Erlöserkirche) is an Evangelical (Protestant) church in Bad Homburg, Germany. Finished in 1908, the building is outwardly of a heavy, romanesque revival appearance, while its interior is held in a neo-Byzantine style, with rich marble wall decorations and gold mosaics covering the domed ceiling, leading to the church sometimes being called 'Bad Homburg's Hagia Sophia'.

Technique/Processing

One shot only, processed in Adobe Camera first to get as much as possible detail in the sky while retaining the brightness of the snow using the gradient tool in ACR.

After that standard cross processing has been applied (Color FX).

I went with the unorthodox composition, placing the church in the middle of the frame, because this way the sun was almost exactly behind the church creating the bright glow around it.

I didn't correct the perspective distortions, as the result looks very unnaturally when using such a wide lens.
