The young apprentice - a photo on Flickriver

            Normally I like to mix my photostream up a little but today, it's another oystercatcher.

This little fella is the offspring of yesterdays post. 

The little guy was diligently following his mum along the shoreline as she showed him the ropes OC style.

The most significant difference between them is their beaks. This youngsters beak was still significantly shorter than that of the adult birds. The youngster also lacks the red eye vibrancy of his mum.

Oh yes and it was raining again ;)
