Grrr! - a photo on Flickriver

Grrr!

            another lowkey shot, this time a tweak of an older shot I had on flickr but haven't been 100% happy with. Unlike most of my lowkey work, this black background had to be slightly postprocessed - my other shots rely on either high-speed flash sync or harsh direct sunlight and spot metering for natural light falloff. Call it a 'fake' if you will, but the black background from about hafway up is natural - a wooded area behind, enabling me to keep the intricate hairline of the lion. I left the straw in its mane, too - that's just how it was that day...
