Backyard House finch - a photo on Flickriver

            I'm trying to decide which lens(es) to take with me to Georgia next week. Today I did a quick test with my ancient 400mm. f5.6 ED Nikkor.  It's heavy and focuses laboriously (and manually) but it's just plain sharp, even wide open.  Hmmmm.
