Ferndale CA Gyrfalcon - a photo on Flickriver

            Yes, it's a candidate for the Bad Wildlife Photography group, but there are mitigating circumstances. This rare Gyrfalcon has appeared at the Eel River Estuary Preserve near Ferndale, California (south of Eureka). My wife and I drove up to see it and spend a lovely weekend enjoying the area. The bird cooperated, but it perched VERY far away, hundreds of yards. I took this with a 500mm. and a Kenko Teleplus Pro 3x telextender that rarely gets used. That's a lot of  firepower, and a lot of atmospheric turbulence to shoot through. Can anyone tell what it is (he said hopefully)?
