Greeting the Sun

            The canyons below Deadhorse Point begin to fill up with light as the sun rises over the red rock country of Canyonlands National Park, Utah. A silver sliver of the Colorado River shines brightly as the ancient aqueous sculptor finds its way ever to the southwest through the labyrinth of its own making. In the hazy distance, a few of the formations within the Maze District are visible.

I've returned from Southern California and have unfortunately been swamped with work the past few days and have not been able to comment much here. Hopefully that will change in the near future! I can also report what many others have already found to be true: Death Valley in April can be extremely hot. Moreover, sleeping on the ground is much like bedding down with an oven baking stone. More to come from that adventure soon... thanks for visiting!
