Watercourse in Flight - a photo on Flickriver

            A small, un-named stream leaps down a basalt staircase, racing to join the Skagit River several hundred meters down the slope, Skagit Provincial Park, British Columbia. Behind me, seemingly as close to the stream as possible, was an abandoned mining operation that appeared to have persisted up until the 1920s at least. I guess this date based on the appearance of an ancient nearby truck that was slowly being claimed by cedar litter-fall turning to soil around its axels. There are certainly worse ways to go than being buried lovingly by Mother Cedar.

Technical notes: Elbows wedged tightly to torso, deep breathing, apparently very effective in-camera image stabilization, luck. My travel Joby tripod couldn't be affixed to anything at the height and perspective I wanted, so was forced to improvise with imitation meditative techniques...
