Belur - Hassan, Karnataka, India - a photo on Flickriver

            This is the kind of image I have been working to create over the past 40 years.  My photographic wanderings have taken me many places.  I started out in 35mm, worked my way up to 4x5 for magazine illustration work, then to 120 format film cameras, 12x20 inch, 11x14 inch, 10x12 inch, and 8x10 inch ultra large format cameras.  

Then I tried my hand at Palladium and it was as if I had found the print medium that all my cameras could never directly satisfy.  Now I have taken yet another step and scan film, use the Gimp to manipulate an image, and then print a digi-interneg using a HP B9180 printer.  All the elements are now in place that allow me to create the kinds of images that please me the most.  And the thing of it that shouldn't surprise me, but it does: The camera doesn't matter!  The only thing that matters is the final image.  Duh!

These images are duplicates of things I have already posted here in various forms.  What's different about these is that they are hand coated Palladium prints that I made from HP B9180 printer generated digi-internegs.

This image started as a Mamiya 7 Kodak TMax100 film negative.  For a long time I felt this image was lost to me.  The neg is very thing.  But after digitizing and fiddling with the Gimp, it was "saved" and then printed to Cranes Weston Diploma Parchment paper and has a nice rich warm tone to the final print.
