Great Falls, Montana - Elementary School

            The sky was overcast and the mood was slightly depressed.  Yet, the light spilling in through a north facing window was fabulous.  It lifted the spirits a bit.

The mood is strong.  Out comes the huge old camera.  The French call these Cabinet Cameras, don't they?  Perhaps called thus after the time when artists could walk into their cameras.  Measuring and carefully ladling the photosensitive solutions to glass, then sliding the massive plate into place with a solid "thunk".  Out comes the dark slide.  Whisper quiet goes the shutter.  Ah, the anticipation and hope that this will be a good exposure.  Making sure the platinum qualities approach the levels in quality of such skilled albumin artists as Samuel Borne.  This is nerve wracking business, this!
