            At last, we reached the lake we were aiming for. This lake, and the others nearby, actually changed color throughout the day based on the weather. In the mornings, when there was little to no wind, the lake was a translucent, clear blue. But as soon as the afternoon wind picked up, waves on the lake surface stirred up the gypsum coating the bottom of the lake, causing the waters to assume a more opaque color as the gypsum became suspended in solution. It was quite a phenomenon to behold.
