Not another junco

            Over the last couple of years when doing bird photography, I have made an effort not only to look for birds but  also to listen for them.  In the winter months when I spend a lot of time on the computer, it is not rare that I put on a CD of bird songs and calls and try to memorize them.  The call of the orange-crowned warbler is very similar to one of the call of the dark-eyed junco, who has several calls.    I know that the junco call is more mechanical than the orange-crowned one but it remains a real challenge in the field, especially at this time of the year when all the birds are singing and calling.  These birds are pretty common at this time of the year and I hope to be able to find one with a better "crown" to do justice to their name.  This one was a good singer, you can't always have it all, looks and talent :)   I love juncos too but this was a nice change.
