I captured this one, a few days before the end of 2009.
I had assumed that I should make the most of the freezing weather, since it is usually all too fleeting in this neck of the woods.
How wrong can you be ?!! Our longest spell of cold weather in thirty years.....one place in the Highlands was at minus 22.6 Centigrade, or minus 8.5 Fahrenheit on Thursday night !
This wee lochan, Cill Chriosd, is now totally frozen over, with a layer of snow, and people are skating on it.......a sight I have never seen ! ( The Gulf Stream raises the temperature here quite a bit, usually !)
I rather liked the way the ice was picking up the delicate colours of the weak winter sun, and those lovely crystals of frost I was standing on, and on the foreground grasses. The quietness was exquisite.
