Churches of the Atacama: Chiu Chiu - a photo on Flickriver

The desert light squeezes into the church of San Franciso de Chiu Chiu. As trees are rare in the Atacama, the church´s doors are made from cactus wood. Its spongy structure makes this wood extremly light and stable.
