The good thing about going through a frustrating period is the joy you feel when something comes along to snap you out of it.

Yesterday the car went in for a service so I suggested we head over to the beach near the garage with the dog.  It's not a beach I much like, it's either grassy areas or big pebbles on a slope which are akward to walk on.  I took the camera on the off chance.  On the way there it started to rain - I was thankful I'd been allowed to use my new Christmas present (a new Kata bag) early as it allowed me to keep my camera equipment dry.  I thought that was it for photography.  

The rain moved on thankfully so I got the camera out and was just playing around with my new wide angle lens to get a feel for what I might be able to shoot in the future.  Then I mentioned to my wife how loud the sea was against the shore - she went over the bank of pebbles to explore and I followed.  I don't know if it's particularly normal to get really excited about a great big old pipe but I did, as with the tide coming in I knew it was something I'd love to photograph.  So I did.  I'd only remarked about 2 minutes earlier that "there's probably not anything here I'd really like to photograph".  Off went the wide angle lens, back on went the trusted kit lens and the B+W ND110 and I snapped away.  The marks on the horizon is the windfarm just off the coast.

The day remained pretty dull so this was always going to be a series of black and white photographs.  However I now have a location to add to my list to visit on better days to try and get some interesting colour shots.

Again I'm trying to slow down my natural rate of working to try to make the most of my photos, as an approach I find it really frustrating but I think I'm seeing better results as a consequence.  Hope you enjoy.
