Cook Bank, Rhyolite, Nevada - a photo on Flickriver

Now a ghost town, Rhyolite started as a "two-man camp" in January 1905. Within two weeks, it had a population of 1,200.

The bank was completed in 1908. By this time the population was around 5,000, but already starting to decline after the Panic of 1907. The bank had closed by March 1910, with only 675 residents remaining in the town.
