Storm Watch

            A rainy stormy day at Anclote, such as today, means that three people volunteer to check on the Eagles and their nest.  The tree these eagles have nested in has a serious lean and dead roots, the tree itself is completely dead, it won't make it through a harsh storm.  We just hope it lasts two more weeks for the two young to leave the nest successfully.  On this day I stood out in the rain and waited for this male to return safely.  I was thrilled to see him!!  When I got back in the car my hair had the worst hair day ever, salt water, rain and wind - mascara running down my face - I looked like Alice Cooper!!  Today another storm hit and both Bonnie and Chris checked on the nest, thanks to them for helping me pull 24-7 duty on this nest!

PS - if the tree comes down we have a list of numbers to call, power plant has ben notified that day or night they are to let an authorized person to come and it pick up the eaglets, they would probably be taken to rehab for just a few weeks and then released - let's hope that never happens
