Mt ASO towns and villages – Kyushu Japan

Mt Aso is located in Japan on the southern Island of Kyushu. It's a beautiful place famous for it's hot springs, its caldera and the GeoPark. ASO is a great destination to discover, but be aware... It is a VERY active volcano, and as such the summit is often closed due to gas emissions and small eruptions. The caldera has a long history of habitation, and today about 50,000 people live in its long-established towns and villages. No other caldera in the world has such a large community.
