Café Wall Illusion 3 - Docklands Melbourne - e0633

            Up close, I think the illusion gets worse. The orange floor lines are actually parallel. Why would you do this to your building? What was the Architect thinking, or smoking as someone has suggested? Near Docklands stadium, Melbourne, Australia.

I understand it is called the Münsterberg Illusion, or the Cafeteria Wall Illusion or simply the Café Wall Illusion. The building houses the Australian Customs Service and is known as the 1010 (ten ten) building.

Ah, fame at last. My 'Illusion 3' image, with my permission, has been used to illustrate Thales Theorem in a book on mathematics published in Canada in French. I was given a copy of the book and a payment of $1. It was all I asked... to be framed of course. (Update: Has since been published a second time in another mathematics book ($2 this time, inflation) and used in an advertising promotion in Australia ($150) and the views continue to mount.
