Tricolored Heron (Egretta tricolor) -03

            SPI Nature Center on the last evening of April, 2018, South Padre Island, Texas.

Today, I'm going to post shots of the larger birds at SPI, beginning with this species which we got to see in the evening, after the Nature Centre had closed. Because it was possible to access the boardwalk, we decided to have a peek. I didn't even have my camera with me at first, but quickly realized what a mistake that was in the fleeting light, so rushed back and retrieved it from the car. The first three shots might have been even better with just five minutes more sunlight... 

Next morning, we enjoyed these birds from the boardwalks of both facilities....
