Spolia in the citadel, medieval castle of Larisa, Argos, December 2006

            The Medieval Castle of Argos was built on the ancient fortification of the hill of Larisa above the town of Argos. It does not have an independent water supply and so was not really that good in times of siege. 

This image shows an archaic inscription (which I have not been able to trace so far), re-used as a spolion in the defensive wall, a full, like 1600 years after being carved...
