Dunstable panorama 1977

            A view over Dunstable from the south in May 1977.

A group of us went up onto the Beech Road reservoir to watch the Red Arrows, who had been booked to perform at the Dunstable carnival that year.

The row of houses in the foreground  is Lowther Road.  Various water towers can be seen dotted around the town, all of which have been demolished over the last 15 years or so.  Also visible a little to the right of the centre of the photo is the chimney at the cement works in Houghton Regis, which met its end in the late 1980s or early 1990s.

The Red Arrows never turned up, by the way.
