Pony Tale...

            So there we were, parked in a lay-by in Hampshire’s beautiful New Forest. Langstone Joe was gradually turning my prized ordnance survey map into waste paper while I scanned the horizon looking for a pond which was supposedly yards from where we had parked. ‘Follow me... it’s just over there’, LJ yelled as he produced a compass that he has cherished ever since pulling that Christmas cracker in 1969. Little did we know that this budget oriented compass didn’t actually have the strength to find north but merely wavered towards the nearest metal object, which was normally his camera!

Thirty minutes later, having walked in circles around the same extended clump of heather at least a dozen times, we finally came across the ‘pond’. To most people this damp patch would have represented something you step over after it has just rained and it didn’t exactly set our artistic juices flowing. 

However, as we followed our circuitous route back to the car we did thankfully stumble across this wild pony knee deep in heather. All’s well that ends well.
