The Palouse

Jave Alan and I recently returned form a whirlwind tour of the pacific north west. First stop was Portland and the best money I have ever spent. We took a work shop with Ryan Dyar, both and exceptional photographer and human being.

Sleeping four hours a night, driving seven hours a day and editing in every spare moment is a vacation I’ll sign up for any day. We did not encounter an abundance of great light on our trip, but we had a blast and brought back some skills that are sure to improve our work tremendously.

This shot is of Palouse Falls in south eastern Washington. It truly is one of the most picturesque places I have even been. If you ever go there take it all in because the canyon and falls is about all there is for many hours in any direction. After getting skunked at our other locations up to here, we did have some light at sunset, although most of it was in the opposite direction of the falls. I am happy with the shot, although I do plan on giving it another try there someday in hopes of a sky full of clouds.
