Palacio de Cristal

            Levantado en 1887 con motivo de la Exposición de las Islas Filipinas, celebrada ese mismo año. Construido por Ricardo Velázquez Bosco, cuyo proyecto de construcción se inspiraba en el Crystal Palace, de Paxton. Su función era la de invernadero, alcanza 22,60 metros, que cubre un magno pilón destinado á las plantas acuáticas. Alrededor, y en las naves laterales, de 14,61 de elevación, han de cobijarse las flexibles gramíneas y elevadas palmas características de la flora tropical de Filipinas. Actualmente, tras la reparación de 1975, el Palacio tiene el aspecto original. Pero su función no volverá a ser la misma, pues sólo en 1992 se inauguraron en Madrid 3 invernaderos. En la actualidad se realizan exposiciones de arte contemporáneo.

Raised in 1887 on the occasion of the Exposition of the Philippine Islands, held that year. Built by Ricardo Velázquez Bosco, whose construction project was inspired by the Crystal Palace, Paxton. His role was that of gases, reached 22.60 meters, which covers a pylon magnum destined to aquatic plants. Around and in the aisles of 14.61 lifting the flexible shelter have high grass and palm features of the tropical flora of the Philippines. Today, after the repair of 1975, the palace has the original look. But its role will never be the same, since only in 1992 were inaugurated in Madrid 3 greenhouses. Currently there are exhibitions of contemporary art.
