ENG: Kalimandir is the name of an enchanting Hindu reality born in Rome in Casal Lumbroso. It was founded by an Italian Baba known by the name of Yogi Krishnanath. This Baba, whose real name is Alessandro Pace, lived twenty years of his life on Indian mountains, places in which he came for the first time in August 1969 starting from Rome by hitch hiking. Alessandro, now called Krishnanath, has absorbed Hindu culture as if it were his culture , becoming a Sandhu, a Nath Baba which means a Hindu ascetic.
In a recent dialogue with Krishnanath, he told me the basic steps of Hindu culture. He explained to me that nationality is not important to become a Sandhu. “The important thing is Renunciation, in Hindu culture..Renunciation is the basic requirement for a Sandhu...because a Sandhu is the representation of God on earth...a Sandhu is an idol in life. "
After this meeting I discovered that there are many Italian Sandhu both in Italy and all over the world and that to become a Sandhu "the important thing is follow the right spiritual path and receive a good education from a Guru."
Krishnanath tells me that after living on Indian mountains (Almora village) was forced to return to Italy due to bureaucratic problems. He come back to Rome and decided to build a Hindu temple on a field belonging to his family. The Temple is dedicated to Goddess Shiva and Khali and it is administrated by Krishnanath and his partner, Gori Nath. She is Italian also. Her real name is Giuseppina, and she’s 65 years old.
Alessandro and Giuseppina have created a piece of India inside Rome, but they are not locked in their communities. They surf the web and use social networks to "improve interfaith dialogue and to communicate with people about the activities of Kalimandir" . The temple today is the site of meeting and pilgrimage of devotees from all parts of the world, not only from Italy.
One of these devotees talking about the temple said that "to attend the temple of Yogi Krishnanath was like finding a new relationship between cultures, religions and society, a new form of integration "2.0", hard to find elsewhere."

Un luogo sacro ospitato nella casa di Baba Krishnanath, santone over 60 – all'anagrafe Alessandro Pace - che dopo 20 anni in India ha deciso di tornare in Italia e costruire un tempio Hindu a casa sua. Centinaia di fedeli indiani, nepalesi e bengalesi, ma anche italiani arrivano ogni anno in visita da Baba Alessandro e dalla sua compagna Giuseppina (ribattezzata Gori Nath). Per diffondere il verbo induista e seguire a distanza i loro Chela (discepoli), KrishnaNath e GoriNath ricorrono ai social network e al web.
