WPA Street, Wells between 46th St. and 46th Pl.

            This stretch of Wells, between 46th Street and 46th Place is a WPA street. Yes it was twenty years old when we moved here in 1956, installed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt's Works Progress Administration. I don't know what material they used, but it gets unusually soft in the summer, so soft that car tires sink into it. And over the years, it has developed a network of cracks. At 80 years old, it's been patched and patched and repatched. It really needs replacing. Finally.
