Femelle d'Orgyia antiqua et sa ponte déposée sur le cocon d'où elle est sortie (orifice de sortie à gauche).

            La femelle d'Orgyia antiqua, brachyptère, inapte au vol et dépourvue de trompe est donc incapable de se nourrir. Elle sort de son cocon, en juillet-août, émet des phéromones, attire le mâle qui lui, est ailé, s'accouple, pond et meurt. Les chenilles vont éclore au printemps suivant.

The female Orgyia antiqua, brachypterous, unfit for flight and devoid of horn is therefore unable to feed. She leaves her cocoon, in July-August, emits pheromones, attracts the male who is winged, mates, lays and dies. The caterpillars will hatch the following spring.
